Most airsoft gearboxes are cast using a fairly low grade alloy to get the approximate shape then machined down to their final dimensions. This means they are fast and cost effective to manufacture, however it limits the strength and durability and comes with a risk of defects which can cause premature failure.

Retro Arms gearboxes are manufactured from single blocks of aircraft grade aluminium making them some of the strongest in the world. Precisely made with tight tolerances this gearbox shell is ideal for high performance builds even allowing up to M160 springs to be used.
